Essex County Schools Next Week
Posted by Jeff Hathaway on December 1, 2006 at 9:06 PM
One more week will finish off the program portion of the Reptiles at Risk on the Road project for 2006! Next week, we will be visiting seven schools in southern Essex County, one of the most important areas of Canada for species at risk reptiles!
We are also in the process of completing the evaluation phase of the project. We're using pre- and post-program surveys at these schools (and the ones we visited previously in Norfolk, another bastion of reptile diversity) to see how much the participants learn about reptiles, and whether their attitudes towards them improve after the program or not. We've begun entering data into the computer, and hope to get the Essex schools processed quickly so we can start running the statistical analysis.
For anyone out there who wants to become a herpetologist and actually do research, statistics is a class in school you should really pay attention in! However, since I don't normally do research myself, I'm definitely quite out of practice and I'll need to brush up a bit before getting into it!
