Herping in Leader

Before leaving western Saskatchewan, we had to spend at least a little time looking for reptiles, so we went with Gary up to the Leader area. We were hoping to meet up with Ryan, who until recently operated Scales Zoo in Leader. Unfortunately, the zoo is now closed, and we were not able to meet with Ryan, but we did manage to find a very small prairie rattlesnake and a small bullsnake. Of course, we were able to get some pictures of these...

Thanks again, Gary, for taking the time to show us around, and for the overall hospitality! Now we're off to Swift Current to do the GAP Youth Centre. I did a telephone interview for the local radio station, CKSW 590, yesterday, so it should be interesting to see if the turnout is higher than expected. After the show, we take Megan to the bus station, so she can head back to Ontario and start school- she has a two week field course starting on the weekend. We'll certainly miss her, and it will be much tougher for Crystal and I to keep up with everything!
