Breakfast Televison in Winnipeg
Posted by Jeff Hathaway on August 22, 2006 at 10:33 PM

We got into Winnipeg relatively late, and searched for a place to stay. Since we had to be downtown very early for a spot on City TV's Breakfast Television program, we had decided to find our first hotel room of our journey.

Unfortunately, the first two we found did not have internet access in the rooms, which we had decided was a necessity. If we're going to spend the money on a place to stay, it should at least allow us to catch up on our website updates and respond to some emails! We ended up at a Super8, and spent a few hours catching up on the computer stuff.

Only a few hours later, we headed down to the City TV studio. It is always interesting doing TV interviews, especially watching all of the behind the scenes stuff. Our interview went well, although as usual with this sort of appearance it was pretty short. Still, we got a couple of basic messages out to a lot more people than we can reach with our hands-on programs!

We had also planned for a radio interview but that didn't work out, so be went back to our hotel and got a little more sleep before heading for the Portage Place Mall, our last program in Manitoba.

Portage Place is a huge mall- it reminded us of the Eaton Centre in Toronto. We were a little worried that we might have an overwhelmingly large turnout for the program, but it wasn't as huge as we imagined. Still, a couple of hundred people is a good-sized crowd, and the show went very smoothly.

Only one more errand to run before hitting the road for Ontario- we had to pick up a snake at the airport! Someone in British Columbia has wanted to donate a young eastern fox snake to us since this spring, but between everyone's schedules we hadn't been able to co-ordinate the shipping. It just happened to work out that he was able to ship the snake, via WestJet cargo, to Winnipeg for us to pick up just after our program. It all worked out very nicely, and we now have a new recruit for the final week of our tour!
