Weekend Update: Part Two
Posted by Jeff Hathaway on July 16, 2006 at 11:06 AM

A mid-day start put us in Timmins with time to do a little shopping. Sunday was a big day, as Jenny and Crystal were set to meet us in the afternoon at Kettle Lakes Provincial Park. So we picked up some food to create a nice dinner for everyone.

We narrowly avoided a collision just east of Timmins at a construction site - after the signman allowed us to proceed we followed the construction company truck through the stretch of repaving. Then the truck pulled over to the right shoulder, so Amanda began to accelerate only to have the truck suddenly make a left hand turn from the right shoulder with no turn signal! Good thing the brakes work well! So does the horn!
We made it to Kettle Lakes, and were greeted by naturalist Marrisa with a cool sign. While talking to the staff, Jenny and Crystal pulled in right befhind us. Great timing! So we set up camp, organized some things, and lounged around a bit before the show, which went well. After the show we had a tasty surf and turf dinner, and went for a refreshing starlight swim before sitting around the campfire. Everyone had lots to say since we'd been gone for seven days , and since Crystal, Megan and I are continuing on to Saskatchewan! We were up pretty late, not expecting the challenges the morning would bring...
