Superior Rocks

We're still in the Marathon area, at Pukaskwa National Park. We awoke this morning to the cries of a family merlins wheeling overhead, and headed off to do a morning radio show on CFNO, which went well. The host, Al Cresswell, was nervous about the snakes, but he did try holding both the black rat snake and the bullsnake, the two largest Canadian species. Go big or go home, as they say...
Yesterday, after catching up on administrative stuff, the girls and I went for a short hike on the coastal hiking trail. We walked about 4 km to a beautiful cove, scrambled about on the rocky Lake Superior shoreline for awhile, had a brief but very refreshing swim in the chilly waters of Lake Superior, and then headed back to camp. No worries about being too warm on the walk back, as a rain storm rolled in off of the lake and soaked us thoroughly for the last couple of kilometres!
After lunch today, we're going to walk a couple of shorter nature trails before getting ready for tonight's program. It will be interesting to see if the radio show will help to get more people out to the program!
Edit- a photo of Crystal on the rocks is now up at http://www.flickr.com/photos/scisnake/195341375/
Tomorrow night will see us in Thunder Bay, where we'll be staying with Megan's parents. We should have better access there, and will finally be able to upload more photos!
