Morning in Marathon
Posted by Jeff Hathaway on July 19, 2006 at 11:33 AM

Crystal and Megan here, updating you all while Jeff is chatting on the phone (nothing out of the ordinary there!). We had a wonderful show in White Lake Provincial Park, with very helpful staff. The stay wasn't complete without a couple of hours of canoeing and pike fishing on Deer Lake.

After catching only one pike (photo at http://www.flickr.com/photos/scisnake/194937414/), we headed back to camp. Jeff needed to catch up on more email and phone stuff, so Crystal and I attempted to fillet the pike. No wonder people don't enjoy cleaning pike - they have a million extra bones! We did end up with some fish to eat though, and it was fairly tasty.

A fairly klutzy morning, though- Jeff started things off nicely be dropping the trailer table directly on his big toe. Crystal topped that quite well by slicing her finger on the saw blade while constructing a new level to the van shelving unit, creating a small pool of blood under the picnic table. I wasn't quite up to par, but followed with a nice wasp sting on the inside of my arm. Fabulous day, all in all. We are all feeling much better this morning, however, here in the very nice Marathon Public Library. We are awaiting Jeff's return from the phone...a visit to the hospital is in order for Crystal to get a tetanus shot (just a precaution!). Very handy that in Marathon, the hospital is next door to the library!

Oh, the trials of being on the road! Don't forget, tomorrow morning we'll be on CFNO radio at 8:00AM if you can get it!
